Our story
On a sweltering day, in the middle of an almost empty community centre in the middle of Scunthorpe, hundreds of miles from home and wearing more glittery Spandex than Justin Hawkins, Heidi Golder began the journey to create Joyfonia.
She’d just that moment passed the test to qualify as a dance instructor for the over-50s and began hosting dance sessions in residential care settings.
With two years of experience of leading weekly, seated-dance workshops in residential homes, it was clear that staff and residents loved the party atmosphere of the dance sessions, and care teams loved how we adapted intuitively to residents’ needs and abilities.
The only problem was this: our clients wanted more Joyfonia!
More sessions to choose from! More weekly sessions! More fun! More games!
So, we – the Joyfonia Team – created more!
We used our combined decades of experience as musicians, entertainers and event planners to structure sessions that combine music, engaging activities and a person-centred approach to give residents a fun and exhilarating experience every time.
We named our business Joyfonia, meaning “Happy Music”, for a reason. Coming from musical backgrounds, we believe music does amazing things to the mind, body and soul.
With inclusivity and accessibility at the core of what we do, and years of experience working with people with a spectrum of abilities, we know that we are the very best at what we do, and no one creates joy and laughter quite like we do.
There ain’t no party like a Joyfonia party, that’s for sure.

Let the fun begin - funk yeah!

Our team
Our team is a small but passionate one. We’ve been working together professionally, as well as being life-partners, for over 10 years.
Starting in a rock band together and performing for audiences across East Anglia, we know how to entertain and bring our own unique brand of Golder-magic to any occasion.
When we’re not working hard at Joyfonia or entertaining audiences, we are usually off on adventures with our two children or doing silly things for charity.
Our mission is to make all kinds of activities and entertainment accessible for all.
Fun is for everyone!
