Why care homes choose Joyfonia
Because a brilliant activity should do more than fill a space in the calendar
Joyfonia creates the kind of sessions that shift the atmosphere in a room. Familiar songs spark memories, gentle movement brings people together and even the most reluctant residents are free to join in their own way.
Every visit is joyful, inclusive and shaped around the people in front of us—not delivered from a one-size-fits-all script.
Joy for every kind of participant
Residents can sing every word, dance from their chair, share a memory, tap a foot or simply enjoy watching. There is no pressure to perform and no “right” way to take part.
Sessions shaped around your residents
Musical tastes, mobility, confidence and energy can vary enormously within one group. We adapt the pace, content and level of interaction so the session feels right for the room.
Meaningful moments, not just background entertainment
Our shows and classes are designed to encourage connection, movement, reminiscence and shared laughter—creating experiences residents and teams can genuinely enjoy together.
Easy for your team
We keep everything clear and straightforward, from choosing the right activity to confirming the practical details. We arrive ready to bring the energy, so your team is not left managing complicated preparation.
Warm, professional and wonderfully human
Joyfonia combines colourful personality with genuine care, reliability and an instinctive understanding of how to make people feel comfortable, included and valued.
Created for care-home life
Our activities work beautifully for mixed groups, including residents living with dementia and those with limited mobility. Fully seated options mean more people can be part of the experience.
“The whole room came alive. Residents were singing, smiling and moving along in whatever way felt right for them—even some who don’t usually join group activities. JOYFONIA created such a warm, joyful atmosphere and made everyone feel included without ever putting anyone under pressure. The residents were still talking about it afterwards and immediately wanted to know when Joyfonia was coming back.”
“Joyfonia was an absolute pleasure from booking through to the performance. Communication was clear, JOYFONIA arrived promptly with everything THEY needed, and the session was beautifully adapted to suit residents with different abilities and levels of confidence. It was lively, professional and genuinely uplifting, while being incredibly easy for our team to organise. We would recommend Joyfonia without hesitation.”

Frequently asked questions
Is Joyfonia right for our residents?
Our sessions are designed to feel welcoming, flexible and easy to enjoy, with familiar music, clear guidance and plenty of room for residents to take part in their own way.
Many residents with limited mobility can enjoy Joyfonia. Movements can be made smaller, gentler or enjoyed completely from a chair—and simply listening to the music is every bit as welcome.
The care home must decide what level of participation is safe and appropriate for each resident based on their individual care plan, mobility, balance, fatigue, health and risk of falling.
Joyfonia does not lift, transfer, position or physically support residents, and we do not provide moving-and-handling assistance. Any help involving chairs, wheelchairs, walking aids, transfers, standing or movement must be provided by appropriately trained care-home staff using the resident’s usual support arrangements.
Every Joyfonia activity can be enjoyed while seated, standing or through a mixture of both, depending on the residents in the room.
Our Seated Bellydance and Seated Zumba Gold classes are created specifically as fully seated experiences.
Our live shows can also be enjoyed entirely while seated, although residents may choose to stand, dance or move around where their care team has decided that it is safe for them to do so.
Any standing, walking, transferring or physical support remains the responsibility of care-home staff. Joyfonia will never ask a resident to stand or attempt to physically assist them.
Absolutely. No two groups are quite the same—and that is part of what makes every Joyfonia visit special.
Tell us about your residents’ favourite musical eras, preferred energy level and general accessibility needs when booking, and we will shape the session around the people in the room.
Any adaptation we make is part of the entertainment experience rather than a medical or therapeutic assessment. The care home remains responsible for deciding what is safe and appropriate for each resident and for providing any individual supervision or support they require.
Please avoid including confidential medical information in the booking form. Where there is something important we need to understand, let us know that you would like to discuss it privately before the visit.
Joyfonia does not set a fixed maximum, so sessions can work beautifully for anything from a small, intimate group to a room filled with residents, carers, relatives and visitors.
The care home must decide how many people the chosen space can safely accommodate, taking account of room capacity, furniture, access routes, fire exits, staffing levels and residents’ individual needs.
We will need a clear, safe performance area for our equipment. If the room arrangement or attendance level presents a safety concern, we may ask for the space to be adjusted before beginning—or pause the session until it can continue safely.
Not at all. There are no surprise solos, compulsory dance routines or reluctant residents being dragged into the spotlight.
Residents can sing, sway, dance, tap a foot, share a memory or simply sit back and enjoy the performance. There is no right or wrong way to take part—and watching with a smile absolutely counts.
Participation must always be voluntary and consistent with the resident’s wishes, care plan and any relevant consent or capacity arrangements. Joyfonia will never pressure a resident to participate or physically assist them into a movement.
Care-home staff remain responsible for supporting residents, recognising signs of discomfort, distress or fatigue and deciding whether someone should pause or stop. We will always follow the team’s guidance and happily adjust the energy in the room when needed.
Absolutely, within reason. We love helping to make birthdays, anniversaries, seasonal events and other special occasions feel even more memorable.
Share the details with us when you book, and we will let you know how we can bring the celebration into your session.
What happens on the day?
Not much at all. We can work happily in most care-home lounges, dining rooms and communal spaces.
We simply need a safe area for the performer, microphone stand and speaker, along with enough room for residents and staff to enjoy the session comfortably.
We arrive with everything needed to make Joyfonia sound as good as it feels.
Our professional equipment includes:
- A high-quality speaker for music and vocals
- Microphone and microphone stand
- Pedalboard
- Cables and extension leads
All we need from your home is access to two safe plug sockets and a space to park and unload from our car. We will take care of the rest.
We will arrive around 20 minutes before the agreed start time.
Setting up usually takes no more than 15 minutes, giving us time to prepare the equipment, complete our checks and make sure everything is ready before the music begins.
Yes. A member of your care team must remain present throughout the session.
Joyfonia provides entertainment and activities, but we are not a care provider. Your team remains responsible for resident supervision, personal care, moving and handling, medication, medical support and individual safety needs throughout the visit.
We bring the entertainment. Your team continues providing the care and support your residents know and trust.
They do not have to, but they are always very welcome.
A familiar face singing or moving along can help residents feel more relaxed, and we often find that the care team ends up enjoying the session just as much as everyone else. Joining in is completely optional—but infectious enthusiasm has been known to spread.
Absolutely. Family members, friends and visitors are very welcome to be part of the experience.
Joyfonia can create a lovely opportunity for residents and the people close to them to enjoy music, movement, laughter and shared memories together.

We understand that care-home life can be unpredictable and plans sometimes need to change.
Please give us at least 72 hours’ notice wherever possible if you need to cancel or rearrange your visit.
Changes or cancellations made with less than 72 hours’ notice may be charged at 50% of the agreed session fee, as that time has been reserved especially for your home and may be difficult to offer elsewhere at short notice.
Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice—or where we arrive but cannot deliver the session for reasons outside Joyfonia’s control—may be charged at the full agreed price.
We will always handle genuine emergencies with warmth, fairness and common sense.
